How's it going C4 gang?!? I hope the winter and holiday season is treating you well. I'm writing today to see about interest in a New Year's Day ride. And, if there is interest, if you are willing to do a Metric century or if you'd prefer we keep it around 40 miles much like the Flowe or SAMBO rides.

I've already mapped out a route that would take us out towards High Rock Lake, bring us back through Spencer, and then back down Miller road (if you are familiar with the Sigmon Sunday Swag route at all).

Anyway, to give you some numbers, at least according to "Ride with GPS", the route would be 63.2 miles leaving from NCRC and would have 2025 feet of climbing. That is a little more than both Flowe and Sambo but spread over about 27 more miles. See Below. (The bottom line is that I tried to get it as flat as I could just to minimize gaps in the group due to long climbs.)

My goal would be to keep us together much like last year's ride. Everyone that went seemed to really enjoy it and we had several B riders in the group as well. As I recall, we stayed completely together until a long climb on 801 dropped a few folks off. The folks that dropped stayed together from there in. With no major climbs in the 2nd half of the route, I'm hoping we can keep it together the whole way.

So, in summary...

Are you interested in a 1/1/2016 ride? (I'm not taking this as a commitment, just a "probable")
Are you ok with the 63 miles or would you prefer 40ish?
Let me know a preferred time as well, keeping in mind it may be rather cold. 8, 9, or 10 am? (63.2 should take between 3.5 and 4 hours with a 16 to 18 pace.) Currently I'm thinking 9:00 am.

Keep any other Polar Bear Metrics you may doing in mind when you cast your preferences.

Thanks crew! Let me know and we'll get the word out closer to ride day.

Thanks,
Sean E

Oh, here's the feet of climbing per mile. For comparison, BSG is about 89 and BMM is just over 100!

New Year's	2025/63.2=32
SAMBO	1619/37.7=43
Flowe 1787/36.7=49
