[C4 Rides] Monster Cross!

Good Morning All,
 
Has any of you done the Pisgah Monster Cross Challenge?  It reads like a gravel grinder of epic proportions.  
 
I'm considering it and wondered if cross bike is enough.  The website pics seem to show a lot of mountain bikes.
