When I arrived at Walden Inga had her tent up. I was looking for a place for mine when thunder and lightning started very seriously then heavy rain and hail and high winds
I pushed my bike under a small flat roofed cover with to picnic tables beneath I leaned the bike on one and the rain and hail was blowing I n horizontal I climbed up on a table and had to stand hunched over as the roof was low it was strong for about 30 min then it settled down to just raining normal. I knew I couldn't put up the tent without getting it wet inside befor getting the cover on it so biked into town and went to the first motel I saw. Young woman with an infant told me that they were full as well as every motel for miles around. The oil field workers are renting by the month and the firefighters have taken what was left. I thanked her and went out to my bike and was standing over it in the rain trying to figure what to do. She came running out barefoot in the rain to tell me that they just had a vacancy upstairs in the pink house She said she would put me in that apartment just wait while she got some bedding. So I got to put my bike in the foyer downstairs behind a locked door and I had appt
Number4 for the night
I told her I would come to the office and pay she said there would be no charge she wanted to do this for me I gave her a20 which she finally accepted. Now I had a place to sleep I went looking for food and at the restaurant I found Inga we had dinner and she walked back to her wet tent and I to my apartment We agreed to meet for breakfast and did and she left on her bike before me She is friendly and interesting but wants to ride alone. I doubt if I will see here again for today we will be going different ways. Tom and Pam call everyday to have me tell them what's ahead for them. I talked to them today Tom wanted to know about the willow creek pass at 9621 feet I told him that it wasn't to tough as one is already above8500 feet all day. I went to Granby as I was having shifting problems just as I got there the sky opened up and it rained as hard as I have seen in two minutes the street was a river. VJ the bike shop owner was frantically trying to get all the bikes in out of the rain. He checked my bike and determined it needed a new chain which I had put on. It continued to rain and I asked where camping was he said about 10 miles and then offered to load my bike into his VW bus and take me to Hot Sulphur Springs which is where he lives He took me to one motel and tried to get his new best friend a good deal the guy behind the counter did some math and came up with a figure and I said I can't afore that so h called another motel and the price was better so the bike shop took me over there it is raining the whole time when I got my room and the bike out of the van it stopped raining and there was a beautiful rainbow I took a picture of it Good Night Now
