This is Marathon Mountain
Every 4th of July there is a race to the top and back.Coming down people are injured as the top section is scree rock and difficult even if you weren't racing. 
Tom's nephew hiked to the top and met a girl there and talked with her she said she was looking for her father who raced to the top and never came down.
